I had a lovely time playing Miss Cake in the concert reading of the whimsical musical Promenade by Marie Irene Fornés in the Fornés Symposium: Colloquium at NYU.
Fornés was a among the most influential American theater-makers of the twentieth century. A defining force within the off-off-Broadway movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Promenade her most famous work and is rarely done in theatres around the United States. This reading was an opportunity for the public to have a taste of her work and have a post-show discussion that featured a panel of experts on Fornés who discussed the influence of Fornés’ directorial work.
It was an honour to be a part of the continuation of her legacy and preservation of her work!
